Currently watching Call The Midwife season 2.
Meanwhile it was announced sometime ago that there will be a 2013 Christmas Special and a third season in 2014.
Season 2, Episode 1: Quite intense situation with Jenny dealing with a woman in an abusive marriage. Quite tragic how this came to an for the woman. Also intense situation when delivering a baby in a cargo ship.

Season 2, Episode 5: Guest stars Sharon Small. Truly uncomfortable episode to watch regarding the Small character. The play of Robin Hood with all-school boys cast was basically the only thing that I could watch without any discomfort

Season 2 Episode 6: Antepenultimate episode of season 2. Moving story of Jenny encountering a dying pub and his estranged daughter with the daughter hiding her pregnancy from her work colleagues especially when the father got to hold his new grandchild just before he died.

Season 2, Episode 7: Penultimate episode of season 2. An unfortunate reminder of the existence of racism which existed in the 1950s and quite good the way the presentation of it in this episode.

Season 3, Episode 1: Season 3 opener. Princess Margaret makes an appearance here but of course we don’t see her face. Knew Chummy would not be content to being a housewife and that she would return to work as a midwife. Interesting that cystic fibrosis gets discovered here at this point in the series’ narrative.

Season 3, Episode 4: Quite a tragedy that Jenny has here and the funeral presented at the end was well handled.

Just learned that Jessica Raine has quite Call The Midwife as she made her final appearance in the season 3 finale and has left to pursue a career in Hollywood. Call The Midwife has already been renewed for a fourth season but since the series has been built on Jenny Lee’s (played here by Jessica Raine) memoirs it would be interesting to see where it will go without Jenny. With the departure of Jenny, does this mean that Call The Midwife would in effect become its own spin-off.

From TV Tonight: Having been heard as the voice of mature Jenny, Vanessa Redgrave will appear in Call The Midwife on-screen for the first time in the upcoming 2014 Christmas Special.
Meanwhile Linda Bassett as Nurse Phyllis Crane and Charlotte Ritchie as Nurse Barbara Gilbert will be joining the regular cast of Call The Midwife in season 4.

Season 4, Episode 6:
Antepenultimate episode of season 4.
Guest stars Maria Doyle Kennedy as an expectant mother who ultimately gives birth to a baby. Coincidentally a few days before seeing this episode saw her in new movie Jupiter Ascending in which she also gives birth to a baby, in that case the movie title character, in that movie.
I have seen Maria Doyle Kennedy in another BBC series Orphan Black but the one BBC series I like to see her in one day is Doctor Who.
Did not like the other storyline about the pregnant diabetic young woman.

2015 Christmas Special: A quarantine sure put a spanner for a planned BBC broadcast but thankfully things got resolved on this. Iris sure carried a surprise with her one that she didn't even know about until now. Quite harrowing when Sister Monica Joan wander off and ended up at her old home. Quite the sentimentality that was played with her being at said home.
Meanwhile Call The Midwife has been commissioned for a 2016 Christmas Special and a sixth season in 2017.

Season 6, Episode 1: Season 6 opener. Enthralling beginning to the sixth season with a pregnant woman with a young son and an abusive husband who has been released from prison. Quite challenges that this woman had to face to get custody of her children. The said young boy gets called a pirate because of a patch on one of the lens on his glasses. Shelagh sure gave a surprise to Dr Turner here. Incidentally NuWho’s own sixth season has a pirate episode with The Curse of the Black Spot (featuring my wife Karen Gillan) but the Call The Midwife and Doctor Who episodes missed each in having the exact same season episode number placing with the Call The Midwife episode being 6.1 and The Curse of the Black Spot is NuWho’s 6.3
